Cash for gold by Tony Baxter

One of my favourite paintings is Cash for gold by Tony Baxter. It tells us an amazing story about human feelings. The author depicted two men standing in the river and fighting for a piece of gold. Their faces are captured as on the photograph showing a great deal of anger and desperation. Behind the men, in the background there is calm and peaceful countryside. What is so interesting about the image is that the wildlife is going on around the people struggling for material matters. There are some animals which seem not to notice the fighting men as if they don"t belong to the same world. This contrast emphasises the emotions of the fighting gold diggers. Cash for gold is the first picture from the series under the same title. The painter created a set of images that show how people"s life is cantered around money and material possessions. Each painting presents different people in diverse settings but the major motive is always the same. Tony Baxter is a renown painter who won some important awards for works concerning some social issues. His famous work The poor is exposed at the National Art Gallery. He is nominated for BritArt award this year for one of the paintings from Cash for gold and he has big chances to win.
